PADI Freediver Instructor Crossover Courses
As a PADI Course Director and Freedive Instructor, who has been an AIDA Instructor Trainer since 2003, Sam Amps is ideally placed to help Freedive Instructors from other agencies crossover to PADI, and of course help PADI Scuba Instructors become Freedive Instructors.
Freediving Instructors with Other Agencies – If you are currently a freediving instructor with AIDA, RAID, SSI, Apnea Academy, CMAS, Apnea Total, NFDB, Performance Freediving or any other recognised agency, we can help you become a PADI Freedive Instructor. To do this you will need to complete the PADI Freediver Instructor Orientation and also be a current First Aid Instructor.
To enrol on this course you must hold a freedive instructor qualification from a recognised agency, be 18 years or older, have a Medical Statement signed by a doctor within the past 12 months and be a current First Aid Instructor with EFR or another agency. Ask us if you’re not sure if your existing qualifications fit the bill. The course takes one day, usually run on a Saturday at Chepstow so you can stay and dive on the Sunday too if you like and costs £350. We run this course on demand so please register your interest and we’ll let you know dates we can do.
If you are not currently a First Aid Instructor, but do have in date user level First Aid training, we can offer that alongside your instructor crossover. This takes a full weekend with some preparation work and costs £650. Prices include your PADI and EFR materials.
Our next crossover course will take place in early 2017. To book your place, please sign up on the right hand side of this page using our Course Enrolment Form and we will be in touch to discuss dates.
PADI Professionals– if you are a PADI Divemaster or AI who would like to learn to teach freediving alongside your scuba qualification, we can also help. You will first need to complete the PADI Freediver, PADI Advanced Freediver and PADI Master Freediver and EFR Instructor courses and then we can put you through the PADI Freediver Instructor Training Course.
If you are a PADI Scuba Instructor (OWSI or above) who would like to teach freediving then you need to complete the PADI Freediver Courses to one level above the level you would like to teach, and demonstrate additional experience to teach Master Freediver. So, to teach PADI Freediver, you would need to qualify as both PADI Freediver and PADI Advanced Freediver (or qualifying certifications such as AIDA 3 Star) and then apply to PADI for your teaching credentials. To teach PADI Advanced Freediver, you’d need to complete PADI Freediver, Advanced Freediver and Master Freediver (or qualifying certifications such as AIDA 4 Star) and apply to PADI. To teach PADI Master Freediver, you need to complete PADI Freediver, Advanced Freediver and Master Freediver (or qualifying certifications) and have issued at least 50 PADI Freediver Certifications (at least 10 being at the Advanced Freediver level) before applying to PADI. That’s all quite complicated so drop us a mail and let us know what you have so far and we’ll let you know what you’d need!
